  • "Yakuza: Like A Dragon" is one of Sega's best selling games in the previous quarter

The PS5 version for “Yakuza: Like A Dragon” recently launched, but it was off to a rocky start. Owners of the digital PS4 version of the game were unable to get their free next-gen update due to some technical difficulties with the PS Store.

Users said that they were unable to claim the free PS5 upgrade for “Like A Dragon” because the PS Store page had no claim or upgrade button on its interface. Those who owned physical copies of the game were able to upgrade immediately, but digital version owners were prompted to purchase the game despite already owning it.

This issue was reported by many users, and thankfully, it was resolved rather swiftly. RGG Studios, the dev team behind “Yakuza: Like A Dragon,” tweeted the successful resolution of the issue. Fans who were blocked from downloading the free next-gen update will now be able to proceed.

The “Like A Dragon” page on the PS Store is now fixed. Those who are looking to upgrade may simply head back to the page or hover over the game and select the relevant button on the screen.

However, some players are still experiencing some problems with the upgrade — particularly, issues regarding the carry-over of some DLC to the PS5 version and problems with players only having access to the game’s hero edition despite purchasing the legendary edition.

RGG Studios has not made any comments regarding these additional issues at the moment.

“Yakuza: Like A Dragon” is a spin-off game of the venerable “Yakuza” series. “Like A Dragon” uses a dynamic turn-based RPG combat system unlike the original games, but it retains the same style of over-the-top moves and level of silliness that the “Yakuza” franchise is known for.

The game is a commercial and critical success despite its departure from its traditional combat system. Sega praised “Like A Dragon’s” excellent sales performance, as per Game Rant, and the game received positive reviews from multiple game review websites, including an Overwhelmingly Positive rating for its PC version on Steam.

PC ports of the original “Yakuza” games were also released on Steam recently, with each entry receiving positive praise from players.
