Stalker drama “You” is set to conquer Netflix, it’s new home following its cancellation on Lifetime, later this year. And way ahead of its release, we have learned a lot of things about the Penn Badgley starrer.

Warning: This article contains spoilers. If you haven’t seen “You” Season 1 yet, it’s best to steer clear of this report until you’ve finished watching all 10 episodes.

The freshman run of “You” ended with a shocker when it was revealed that Joe’s (Badgley) ex-girlfriend Candace (Ambyr Childers) is alive even though the series made it seem as though the mentally unstable lead character had killed her.

With Beck (Elizabeth Lail) dead, the show is moving forward with a narrative that seemingly centers on Candace. As what Deadline reported early this month, Childers has been promoted to series regular. This means fans will be seeing more of her character in Season 2.

While there’s a big chance that the sophomore run would unravel the mystery behind Candace’s disappearance from Joe’s life in Season 1, it’s already been confirmed that Badgley’s character has moved on to another victim love interest.

The show has cast Victoria Pedretti as its new lead actress for the second installment. Pedretti will play a produce manager named Love Quinn who apparently aspires to become a chef. Contrary to Joe’s love interest in Season 1, Pedretti’s role is not interested in social media.

“Like her name, she’s very warm and there is a carefree aspect to her spirit that really comes from the fact that she has constructed a life for herself that’s about being in the moment and doing what she loves every day,” series co-creator Sera Gamble told Entertainment Weekly of Joe’s new love interest.

Apart from Badgley and Childers, confirmed returning cast include Ethan (Zach Cherry), Claudia (Victoria Cartagena), Annika (Kathryn Gallagher) and Lynn (Nicole Kang). Shay Mitchell’s Peach Salinger and Lail’s Beck are also expected to make appearances, possibly through visions since both characters are dead.

Speaking of Peach, her family’s not buying her alleged suicide. They have hired professionals to investigate her death, so this could mean more trouble for Joe. After all, he left a glass of his pee at Peach’s home before killing her.

Nevertheless, Joe will buy himself some time, or he might not even get caught as he is set to move to Los Angeles in Season 2 after staying in New York in the first season. The move is to be expected as Joe is eager to start anew and escape from the crimes he committed in the Big Apple.

With the new setting comes the introduction of more new faces. James Scully has been tapped to play Forty Quinn, Love’s brother, who is described as someone who is “confident, opinionated and privileged” and at the same time a “razor-sharp bully.”

Actress Jenna Ortega is also joining the cast in the upcoming season. The 16-year-old is portraying a teenager named Ellie who is said to have grown up fast in the big city, according to TV Line. She’s a bit of a con artist who will try to work her charms on Badgley’s character.

As for the show’s release date, there’s no word yet on when fans can expect the new season to launch on Netflix. Filming is reportedly set to resume this month. However, Uproxx strongly believes that “You” Season 2 could debut in the fall considering that the first season debuted on Lifetime last September.
