He had hoped when she came home from prison that they would have a chance to work on their marriage and reconcile their differences, but Lily refused. Now, as he prepares to live life as a divorced man, Cane will be forced to try and move on from the mistakes he made and the woman he loves on the Wednesday, May 1 episode of “The Young and the Restless.”

Cane (Daniel Goddard) tried to convince Lily (Christel Khalil) to give him another chance when she first came home by asking her to go on a date with him to the Society restaurant opening on the CBS soap. Though she was still reluctant to give him another shot, any thoughts of a future together were immediately pushed to the side following news that her father, Neil (Kristoff St. John) had suddenly died. As she grieved, Cane remained loyally by her side and allowed her to cry on his shoulder numerous times, and even spoke at the memorial when she couldn’t. However, after everything ended, Lily informed him she hadn’t changed her mind about moving out of Genoa City and starting her life over elsewhere.

Now, after she leaves town again, Cane will be forced to relive his mistakes as his mother, Jill (Jess Walton) demands answers about what went wrong.

“Cane has a candid conversation with Jill,” spoilers reveal.

Though he will insist he failed his wife by kissing Victoria (Amelia Heinle) while she was behind bars, his mother will warn him not to give up, though he knows now there isn’t any hope for him to change Lily’s mind. Jill herself may be forced to also accept that the relationship has officially come to an end, even though it means their family is truly falling apart.

However, Cane’s romantic dilemma could also impact someone else. While Jill was out of town, Traci (Beth Maitland) had been the person he talked to about his marriage problems, and in turn, she was finding inspiration for her next book in Cane and Lily’s story. However, if their love story is coming to an end, it could mean she needs new subject material as well.

“Traci needs inspiration,” spoilers reveal.

“The Young and the Restless” airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. EDT on CBS.
