The time has come for Lily to learn what her fate will be for driving the car and causing the accident that took the lives of both Hilary and her unborn child. Now, she, and everyone else in her family, will wait to hear what the judge has decided on the Tuesday, Sept. 4 episode of “The Young and the Restless.’

Lily (Christel Khalil) was facing up to a maximum of 20 years in prison because she was driving the car and ran a red light on the day of the tragic car accident. While her loved ones were all begging for leniency, Devon (Bryton James) remained firm on the CBS soap, and when it came time to give his statement at the sentencing, he told the judge he felt his sister deserved the maximum punishment available for being responsible for the deaths of his wife and child. The judge then went to decide his verdict.

Cane (Daniel Goddard) begged his brother-in-law to reconsider afterward and do something before the judge came back with a decision, reminding Devon that he and Neil (Kristoff St. John) had once been at odds over Hilary (Mishael Morgan), but had managed to patch things up. However, before Devon could consider what Cane said, the judge returned and announced he had reached a verdict.

Now, Devon will have a last minute change of heart and implore the judge to reconsider. He will admit that he’s been blinded by his grief for his dead wife, and that while he may never be able to forgive and forget on a personal level, he doesn’t think it’s right for his sister to head to prison for such a long time, forcing her to miss big moments in her own children’s lives. The judge will once again head off to make a decision, and while no one can guarantee that his later comments will help, Lily and Cane will both be grateful that Devon made an attempt to make things right for her.

Unfortunately, his revised statement won’t likely make too significant of an impact. Khalil has confirmed she’s going off-contract at the soap and will only be a recurring character, which means Lily is likely heading to prison anyway. Though her sentence may be reduced because her brother changed his mind, she’s going to face some of the consequences of her actions.

“The Young and the Restless” airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. EDT on CBS.
