Zoey Deutch revealed that she was diagnosed with the novel coronavirus before the lockdown was initiated. The actress has joined the list of celebrities who tested positive for the life-threatening illness.

In an essay for Vulture, the 25-year-old actress noted that she and a group of her friends caught the disease before places started to impose nationwide lockdowns to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The star further stated that she does not know where she got the virus and feels like she could have shared her experience in a more “eloquent” way. Deutch continued the essay by saying that she battled the disease for a full month before recovering.

“I had the coronavirus early on, before the shutdown, and a group of my friends also got it. People keep asking me, ‘Where did you get it?’ and I wish I knew. I feel like I could have spoken in a more eloquent way about my experience had I known. I continued testing positive for a month. I am okay now,” Deutch wrote.

The “Buffaloed” star expressed her gratitude toward everyone who supported her and said she feels really lucky to have safely come out of this huge problem. Talking further about her ordeal, the actress said she and her friends all experienced “drastically” different symptoms.

“I had a sore throat and felt totally delirious like I was losing my mind. One of my friends only lost taste and smell. One went to the hospital with normal symptoms, but another friend had absolutely no symptoms at all,” Deutch wrote.

The “Zombieland: Double Tap” star concluded her essay by urging people to take care of themselves whenever they go out and not compromise the health of the people who are less healthy.

“I am so lucky to be healthy, that I am safe and not immunocompromised, and have access to doctors; I am incredibly privileged. But not everyone shares that privilege - so we need to be extra careful for those who don't by wearing masks,” Deutch wrote.

Deutch joins the list of celebrities who contracted the novel coronavirus. Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Madonna, Idris Elba, Olga Kurylenko, Pink, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, Kristofer Hivju, Kevin Durant, Charlotte Lawrence, Daniel Dae Kim, Olivia Nikkanen and Andy Cohen are some of the notable personalities who also tested positive for COVID-19.
