The band members of British pop sensation One Direction have been the object of Twitter gossip for quite some time. But a recent Internet rumor may have just crossed the line.

The blonde boy band star Niall Horan has known to have steered clear of the cyber chitchat, with band mates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson hogging most of the web buzz. But a rumor that surfaced saying that Horan's ex-girlfriend has died after a battle from cancer has left the One Direction member disgusted, reported Irish Central.

Naill won't be happy to hear how far some of these fans have gone with someone who knew him before all this, an insider said according to Irish Central. This is just some silly hoax-Holly is absolutely fine. She went out with Niall for a while years ago but now has girls giving her abuse online every day of the week.

Holly Scally fired back at the crazed fans on May 3rd, attempting to put the vicious rumors to rest.

Apparently I'm dead. Aaah. Serious all you f****** one Direction fans need to f** off and make up rumours about someone else! she tweeted.

The rumor sparked when a user posted the following:

Guys, I have some really bad news. Niall's ex-girlfriend Holly has passed away due to cancer, which caused the topic RIPHollyScally to trend on Twitter.

However, the Irish news source reports that Horan was seen partying with a brunette over the weekend. The Mulingar native returned home to Ireland where he was spotted with Ali McGinley, with one photo showing the pop sensation kissing her cheek.

But that hasn't stopped Twitter fans from showing their affection for the 18-year-old performer. Twitter feeds are flooded with tweets such as one who wrote:

Niall Horan, the most adorable boy on earth. This picture proves it all. Retweet if you agree. :), a fan posted with a picture of Horan on a carousel with his band mates.

I love Niall Horan, wrote another.

I love this boy called Niall Horan :), another fan posted, adding to the avalanche of tweets.

Another recent social media buzz included a rumor questioning whether or not the band members are gay. Fans began to post edited photos of the members which quickly became a meme circulated via Twitter.
