Two children died after they were thrown in a pond by their father. The incident took place in the Indian state of Assam on Tuesday.

Nazrul Islam threw his children, aged five and four, in the pond that was located a few meters away from his home. The family members started searching for the missing minors, however, when they couldn’t find them, they informed the villagers about it. A few hours later, the two minors – a girl and a boy – were found in the pond by the villagers. They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where they were pronounced brought dead by the doctors.

Speaking to local media, a villager said, "When we asked the father of the missing minors, he said that he killed the minors by throwing them in the pond. Later, we found the minors in the pond."

The man was taken into custody in the evening and during interrogation, he confessed to killing his children and said he committed the crime following a family dispute. Investigation into the incident was ongoing and the man remained in custody as of Tuesday night.
