A man in Santa Barbara County, California, was charged after his dogs viciously attacked a pedestrian after breaking through the fence.

Police, firefighters and medics arrived at San Milano Drive around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday after receiving reports of a dog attack. The responding officers found the victim with serious injuries.

Investigation revealed that two canines attacked the victim after breaking through a fence. The canines were secured by the owner before the officers arrived at the scene. The officers spoke to the people living in the area who told them that the dogs were aggressive. They then directed the officers to the owner’s home. The officers found 24-year-old Armando Coronado and his two dogs at the residence.

Santa Barbara County Animal Control personnel were called to the scene following which the dogs were seized. The owner of the dogs was taken into custody for “possessing a mischievous animal that causes serious bodily injury.” He was being held at the Santa Barbara County Jail and his bail was set at $20,000. Meanwhile, the condition of the victim was not known.

In a similar incident in Alabama earlier this month, two people were injured after a pit bull attacked them. A man was walking the canine on a leash when it escaped and went after a shih tzu. When the owner of the shih tzu tried to save her pet, the pit bull attacked her and bit her in the leg. A witness said she saw the pit bull’s owner trying to pull the canine away from the shih tzu and its owner.

“The dog was just attacking whatever he could,” the witness said. She added the pit bull was “not very nice” and “very aggressive” and that it had attacked another dog in the neighborhood in the past. The pit bull was surrendered by its owner. Another man was also injured in the attack, however, his condition was not known.
