KEY POINTS

  • Apple Glass coming in 2022
  • New iPad Mini to come later this year and in 2021
  • iPad Mini with mini-LED display may be coming out later in 2020

Virtual reality devices are gaining steam once more, particularly in the world of gaming. Apple has been notorious for lagging in technology breakthroughs. However, they have made up for it with impressive adaptations. And one that deserves looking into is an alleged Apple Glass according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Though it has been rumored in the past that Apple is working on some kind of augmented reality headset, Kuo mentions that one could be out by 2022, Mac Rumors reported. It aligns with a previous claim by DigiTimes where the said Apple Glasses could look fairly similar to Facebook's Oculus Quest but with a slightly different design. They are likely to support high-resolution display and likely to be hooked up to an iPhone to keep them slim and lightweight. They may run on a new operating system called rOS or reality OS. As far as controlling it, the Cupertino company is reportedly exploring touch panels, voice activation, and head gestures for the interface.

New iPad Minis Coming

Aside from that, Kuo also mentioned that Apple is working on two new iPad Mini models. One would be a 10.8-inch iPad Mini while the other is a smaller, somewhere between 8.5 to 9 inches. The 10.8-inch iPad could be out by the second half of 2020 while the smaller iPad Minis will follow by the first half of 2021.

Kuo also added that the new iPad Minis will follow the iPhone SE strategy. This hints at the two new Apple tablets coming out affordably priced while operating on fast chips. He also mentioned that GIS would be the primary touch panel supplier for both iPad Mini models. If true, the next iPad Minis will be larger than the current one in the market which measures about 7.9-inches.

And while the coming of the two new iPad Minis would be something to look forward to, some are wondering if these would come with a mini-LED display. Kuo did mention that an iPad Mini with such a display would be coming out later this year unless this would be a different variant. Apple has yet to hint at any of these claims, meaning it would be best to take it with a grain of salt. Other details for the Apple Glass and the iPad Minis have yet to be known.
