Three men were stabbed inside a McDonald's outlet in Maryland by a suspect who remains at large.

The victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital following the stabbing in Silver Spring. The incident took place at around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday at the fast food joint located on Colesville Road, according to WUSA9.

An employee at the restaurant reportedly said that two of the victims are construction workers and would visit McDonald's almost every morning. The two victims were having breakfast Tuesday when the suspect approached them and stabbed them, the employee told NBC Washington's sister station Telemundo 44.

The staff member claimed the suspect was also a regular at the same McDonald's outlet. However, the Montgomery County Police Department said the victims and the suspect did not know each other.

Responding officers arrived at the scene and found two men with stab wounds.

The third victim had left the scene following the stabbing. He returned to the restaurant shortly afterward and told cops that he had also been stabbed by the suspect.

Officials erroneously said there were only two victims at first, but they later confirmed that three people were stabbed during the incident. Initially, they also said that the third victim was a minor but later said the third victim was an adult male.

The victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital to receive medical attention.

"Fire & Rescue and police on scene located initially two adult male victims with non-life-threatening injuries... [who were transported to local area hospitals," a Montgomery County officer said, adding, "At a later time, a third victim came back to notify police that he had also sustained an injury. He was also transported to an area hospital."

Police are currently on the lookout for the stabbing suspect, who fled the scene before cops responded.

Details about the circumstances that led to the stabbing were not immediately released.

In an unrelated incident reported in September last year, a 31-year-old fast food employee working at a New York McDonald's was repeatedly stabbed with a boxcutter while trying to diffuse a fight between a customer and his co-workers. The violent customer ran away after leaving the employee in critical condition.
