New York's police union wants to expand the list of ailments covered by the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act to include cancers. Showing Officer Alonzo Harris's uniform from the clean-up, caked with noxious grime, union leaders have now called for the release of the medical records of hundreds of Ground Zero responders.

The records, the union expects, will establish a causal link. Those calling for the release of the records have slammed city officials for the witholding them, calling explanations about privacy concerns that need to be worked out a smokescreen, according to the New York Times.

The spokeswoman for the Mayor Bloomberg, Samantha Levine, said that there is a good-faith effort on both sides to share this data; it simply...takes some time.
