Simon Kassianides will be joining “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 2, reports Deadline. The site reported that he’ll be playing a man named Bakshi, a recurring character on the ABC drama. His character is described as “a confident right-hand man who’s not afraid to do the dirty work.” That leaves a lot of options for how he might contribute to Season 2. Check out our theories below:

Hydra

“Dirty work” doesn’t exactly make Bakshi sound like a good guy. While much of Hydra is gone, there are still surviving Hydra agents. They will likely still try to infiltrate the government and re-establish the organization as a major threat. Kassianides might try to corrupt the new S.H.I.E.L.D.

Spy for Skye’s Dad

Let’s not forget that there are plenty of evils outside of Hydra. Skye’s father was only shown from the back, but the finale made it clear that he was looking for his daughter. While he saw a picture of her, it's not likely that he will stop there. It’s going to take quite a bit of dirty work for anyone to find out anything about Skye, though. Even S.H.I.E.L.D. had trouble finding Skye in the beginning of the series when she was a member of the Rising Tide.

New S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent

Coulson is rebuilding the organization, and he is looking for the best of the best. At San Diego Comic-Con 2014, executive producer Jed Whedon emphasized that Coulson would be working with some people who are far from his first choice. "This season he’s going to go in knowing that he has to work with people he doesn’t necessarily trust," Whedon told Seat42F. Someone willing to do dirty work could come in handy for the new S.H.I.E.L.D.

Partner for a New Character

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” just announced a number of new cast members. Lucy Lawless will be joining the cast as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Isabelle Hartley. Nick Blood will play British mercenary Lance Hunter. Reed Diamond has been cast as a Hydra villain called Daniel Whitehall. Mockingbird, a.k.a. Bobbi Morse, was also announced as a new character, but an actor has not been cast in the role yet. Bakshi could be working with any of these characters. They all could use “a confident right hand man.”

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 2 returns to ABC on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 9 p.m. EDT. Share your theories on Bakshi in the comments section!
