It is perhaps the first time in the history of Indian cinema a tweet has confirmed the parental status of a leading actress.

Throughout her pregnancy, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and the family have been covered, extensively, by various media houses. Now that her motherhood has finally been confirmed, the Internet is flooded with fans sending their best wishes and congratulating the family.

There was speculation that the Bachchans may look to pre-empt the due date, by performing a c-section, to ensure the baby would be born on the palindromic 11-11-11. The family, however, quickly dismissed such rumors. In due and proper course, then, Aishwarya was admitted to the Seven Hills Hospital in Mumbai's western suburb, Andheri, on Monday night, according to a rediff.com report. According to the report, Aishwarya was accompanied to the hospital by her parents Vrinda and Krishnaraj Rai, brother Aditya, husband Abhishek and in-laws Amitabh, Jaya and Shweta Nanda.

An extremely happy and excited Amitabh Bachchan broke the news when he tweeted: I AM DADA to the cutest baby girl!!

What Next?

Now that the media frenzy over the actual birth is over, the next big topic may well be the first photographs of the family. It could be that exclusive rights to those photographs may go to the highest bidder. The other point people will certainly be wondering about, is the baby girl's name! After all, people are eager to know whether the baby has her mother's eyes or her father's charms.

Either way, the Bachchan family has been covered on several occasions, whether it was Abhishek and Aishwarya's wedding, Amitabh's illness or the latest, Aishwary's pregnancy; the Bachchans are certainly Bollywood's first family.

Star couples having children together is scarcely anything new. Actors Ajay Devgn and Kajol come to mind, as do Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna. However, no couple and no child has ever made it so big. The newest Bachchan is already a star, in an industry where her parents and grandparents are worshipped.
