Alec Baldwin has shared a message in support of Chris Rock after the latter was at the receiving end of an angry Will Smith, who slapped the comedian at the Oscars ceremony Sunday.

The 63-year-old "Rust" actor also compared the Oscars to the "Jerry Springer" talk show.

"I am not reading much about how, or even if, the producers attended to Chris," Baldwin wrote on Monday. "But I love you, @chrisrock. And I'm sorry the Oscars turned into the Jerry Springer show."

Fans took to the comments section to share their reactions.

"I personally think Smith just lost control and Chris handle it very well," one person wrote, while another fan commented, "How was this even allowed?? It was so hard to watch Will go back to his seat like nothing had happened...not cool."

However, some fans believe the incident was blown out of proportion. "It'll be over soon. I love Chris Rock and think this was blown way out of proportion," a user wrote. "He was fine. He went to an after-party," another commented.

Smith got angry when Rock joked about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, while presenting the award for best documentary feature Sunday. The comedian said he couldn't wait to see her as "G.I. Jane 2," alluding to her shaved head. Jada has a condition called alopecia areata, which causes hair loss.

The actor immediately went on stage and smacked Rock.

Smith, who won the Best Actor award for his work in the movie "King Richard," apologized to the Academy for his behavior while accepting the honor. He later wrote a public apology to Rock on his Instagram page Monday.

"I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong," Smith wrote. "I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness."

"I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I am a work in progress," he added

Smith will be next seen in the movies like "Emancipation," "The Council," "Fast and Loose," "Bad Boys 4" and "Bright 2."

Baldwin will be featured in movies like "Supercell," "97 Minutes," "Kid Santa," "Billie's Magic World," "Blue Before Blood" and "Rust."
