“Succession” is finally returning to HBO after being away for more than a year, and it seems fans will get to see new faces when the series comes back to the small screen later this year.

Entertainment Tonight learned Wednesday that Alexander Skarsgård (“Big Little Lies” and “True Blood”) and Adrien Brody (“Houdini”) have joined the cast for the highly anticipated third season.

On the show, Skarsgård is set to play the role of Lukas Matsson who is a very successful tech founder and CEO. However, he tends to be confrontational, as per Variety.

Skarsgård is no stranger to doing HBO shows. His role in the first season of “Big Little Lies” even led him to win an Emmy and a Golden Globe.

As for Brody, this would be one of his rare TV appearances as he is mostly focused on doing films. Thus, it is not surprising that he is only set to guest star on the show this season. He will be playing a billionaire activist investor named Josh Aaronson.

Despite only guest starring in the third season of the series, Brody’s character is expected to make a big impact in the storyline because Aaronson will have a pivotal role in Waystar’s ownership battle, as stated by a separate Variety report.

Apart from Skarsgård and Brody, the third season will also introduce a number of new characters to be portrayed by new cast members Linda Emond, Hope Davis, Sanaa Lathan and South Korean actress-singer Jihae, according to Vulture.

The main cast of “Succession” include Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, Jeremy Strong, Nicholas Braun, Sarah Snook, Hiam Abbass, Peter Friedman, Alan Ruck, Matthew Macfadyen and Rob Yang. They are all expected to reprise their roles this season.

Interestingly, Justine Lupe, Fisher Stevens and David Rasche have been promoted to series regulars after portraying recurring roles in the previous seasons.

Production on the third season of “Succession” was supposed to begin last year, but it was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The cast are now in New York filming the new installment that is set to air sometime later this year.
