An amber alert was issued by the Albuquerque Police Department as a 2-year-old boy went missing after he was allegedly taken by his biological father, Sunday evening. The alert was issued in the New Mexico state in an effort to locate the child.

The authorities at the police department said the 2-year-old boy, named Johnny Arias, was last reported in 9800 blocks of Sun Chaser Trail, Albuquerque, New Mexico at 7.20 p.m. local time (9.20 p.m. EST), Sunday.

The biological father of the child was identified as 28-year-old Jose Rito Arias, 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighing 135 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. It was also reported that he was Hispanic.

The child was described as a 2-year-old Hispanic male, around 2 feet tall, weighing 30 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Police also released the details of the vehicle driven by Jose. It was a 2011 KIA Sorento in black color.

The Albuquerque Police Department, in the alert, said, “It is unknown where Jose had taken the child. Many details are still unknown and under investigation. However, of urgent concern is the whereabouts of Johnny Arias. Johnny Arias is missing and is believed to be in danger if not located.”

No other details were released.

The investigations were underway and police urged the citizens to reach out if any information about the child surfaces.
