Only three contestants remain on "American Idol" after Thursday night’s elimination round and as Season 13 nears its conclusion. As a surprise, each of the top three contestants received a free trip to their hometowns on a private jet.

Jena Irene Asciutto, Caleb Johnson and Alex Preston survived elimination, but Jessica Meuse, a singer from Slapout, Alabama, was less fortunate (she sang "Blue Eyed Lie" at the end of the episode). Meuse was eliminated after she received the lowest number of votes, despite impressing the judges with her rock version of Lady GaGa's "You and I" in the third segment.

"Last night, Jessica had very mixed results, and then, at the very end, she nailed something great for her, and 'You and I' was a great song for her," Randy Jackson, her in-house mentor, said.

The top three contestants will each get a parade in their hometowns as part of the show's homecoming ritual. Asciutto, who had Jennifer Lopez in tears after her performance on Wednesday night, will return to Farmington Hills, Michigan, while Johnson will return to Asheville, North Carolina, and Preston will fly to Mount Vernon, New Hampshire.

Next week, the three contestants will each sing three songs: One song will be chosen by one of the judges, another will be chosen by Jackson, and the third song will be a reprise of a song the singer has already sung, chosen by fans in their respective hometowns.
