Angelina Jolie, unlike other mothers, has no problems with her six children having rebellious streaks. The ex-wife of Brad Pitt said she encourages her children to make their own choices.

During a recent interview, Jolie, who shares Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and 10-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox with Pitt, talked about her parenting style. When asked by Justin Webb, host of BBC Radio 4’s "Today," what motivated her to move past her "wild" past into humanitarian work, Jolie said that her children helped her grow up while at the same time adding a little "wild" into her life.

Jolie explained that her and Pitt's kids have a rebellious streak, and she doesn't discourage their behavior because she'd rather they forge their own path.

“[My kids] all have a good rebellious streak that is wonderful and curious,” the actress told the host. “I don’t want them to be perfectly behaved little people that just say what’s absolutely appropriate because I say so … they have to find themselves.”

Part of the reason why Jolie encourages their curious nature is because she, too, had once been a "young punk." She revealed that she preferred fighting for something she believes in, despite it being difficult, and making her own choices. Jolie added that she doesn't think she has changed much from her teenage years.

Jolie said that it is important that she maintains an open dialogue with her kids. She also knows that she can't limit their access to the realities of today as she's aware that her generation has a gap with the youth and they would get around her restrictions anyway.

One modern trend she and her kids have not joined in, though, is social media. But although no member of their family is on Facebook, Jolie and her children still talk about what is on social media.

But what about Pitt's parenting style? The actor hasn't revealed which lessons he's instilled in his children, but a source told People earlier this year that he and Jolie have a very different approach when it comes to parenthood. This seems to imply that Pitt may not necessarily like encouraging their children's rebellious streaks.

Meanwhile, Jolie has been a fixture in tabloids this year. One rumor about the actress that was debunked this year is that she has been eating less and losing sleep since her divorce from Pitt. However, Gossip Cop proved that there's no truth to these rumors.
