The Codys managed to pull off another heist, but on “Animal Kingdom” Season 4, episode 2, greed and power will threaten to tear the family apart.

“J (Finn Cole) reconsiders his relationship with Smurf (Ellen Barkin) after he gets bad news about Morgan’s (Laura San Giacomo) death,” the synopsis for “Angela” teases.

In the promo video for “Animal Kingdom” Season 4, episode 2, J is approached by a police officer amid Morgan’s death investigation. Moments later, Smurf is heard saying someone has been talking to the cops.

Last season, J killed Morgan after stealing three of Smurf’s properties. Although J won’t confess to the murder, the pressure from the investigation could cause him to lean on Smurf.

In the Season 3 finale, J vowed to take away everything, and everyone Smurf has ever loved, but will Morgan’s investigation change his mind?

“Frankie (Dichen Lachman) lures Craig (Ben Robson) with the promise of another big score,” the synopsis for “Animal Kingdom” Season 4, episode 2 says. In the “Angela” promo video, Craig tells J, Deran (Jake Weary) and Pope (Shawn Hatosy) that Frankie found a job where they could score tons of cash and jewelry.

Although they know Smurf won’t like them pulling that job, Craig insists they don’t tell her. Is Frankie the key to helping the Cody boys cut Smurf out of their lives for good?

“The arrival of an old family friend surprises Pope,” the synopsis for the TNT drama states. In the promo video, Smurf asks Angela (Emily Deschanel), what does she want.

Elsewhere in the TNT preview, Angela tells J that his mother lived in poverty to keep him away from his family and that she has come to watch his back. Angela, who was Julia’s friend, claims she is there to care for J but is there another reason why she has chosen to reconnect with the Cody family?

“Animal Kingdom” Season 4, episode 2 airs Tuesday at 9 p.m. EDT on TNT.
