Respawn Entertainment has recently confirmed that they’ve already banned over 700,000 cheaters from “Apex Legends.” More than removing cheaters from the game, these developers also confirmed that they’re working on fortifying the game against hacking and preventing hackers from getting on the it again. Here’s what we know about this development.

According to their official Respawn Entertainment post on the “Apex Legends” Reddit, the developers confirmed that they’re working on the game’s Anti-Cheat system to prevent cheaters from getting on the platform again. To protect their progress and prevent their systems from getting bypassed, the developers opted to omit details about their work but promised that the system is being improved all around. The new Anti-Cheat system is being bolstered on both prevention and detection of cheaters currently on the platform.

The developers have currently banned around 770,000 cheaters, blocked over 300,000 cheater account recreations, banned 4,000 spammer accounts in the past three weeks, and reduced cheater countdown to half since March. This progress is significant given the situation of the game when cheaters were running rampant.

Before the fixes and Anti-Cheat system improvements were in place, “Apex Legends” was festering with cheaters that frustrated many players, particularly around the Asian region. While the cheats didn’t assure a one-shot kill against regular players, it turns the cheaters into unhittable, and accurate foes.

Some cheaters would activate a speedhack to quickly take a position or leave enemies in the dust even when incapacitated. In battle, players would immediately receive rifle fire to head which incapacitates players at the hands of ruthless cheaters. However, these many of these cheaters are long gone, but not all of them due to the security updates.

So far, the developers are thankful for the players who detail the cheaters in their reports. Through the reporting system, Respawn Entertainment was able to find the cheats that were able to bypass its cheating system.

Currently, “Apex Legends” is on halfway through its Season 1. It’ll end by June and give way for the start of Season 2, which will be filled with its own new content.

According to Rock Paper Shotgun, players are also expecting a new character named “Wattson” to be released before the end of Season 1, according to speculations.
