The Apple Watch Series 5 is one of the most hotly anticipated products this year. One change that the company will be making this time around is that they will reportedly release a beta test version of the new operating system, WatchOS 6, before the actual launch. Here are the details about the release date and features of the software.

According to a report by MacWorld, Apple will be releasing a beta test version of WatchOS 6 just before the official launch. This test version of the software will only be available to developers. The company will incorporate any changes in the software after getting the feedback from the developers, and the final version will be launched to the general public.

The WatchOS 6 is expected to be released in September. Apple may make the announcement of about the Watch Series 5 and the new software at the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.

Apple Watch Series 5 is expected to come preinstalled with the WatchOS 6. People who have Series 3 and 4 should be able to upgrade the operating system. For Series 2, however, the upgrade may make the devices a little slower. The first generation watch may not get the upgrade.

As for the features of the WatchOS 6, there are a few expectations that users have. The biggest expectation is an always-on display. The Face ID feature, on the other hand, is not expected, even though many users hope it will be included, because there are technical challenges in bringing this iPhone feature to the watch.

According to another report by MacWorld, the Apple Watch Series 5 will come equipped with a S5 processor chip, which is expected to make the device faster than the previous models. The other big expected feature is the glucose sensor.

Apart from the most expected features of Apple Watch Series 5, there is also a user wish list, Tom’s Guide reported. There are sleep tracking apps available on the market, and the report noted that it is time for the company to release an official app of its own. This new app should be able to integrate data collected from the whole day’s activities and give an indication of the overall health of the user.

The WatchOS 6 upgrade should also come with customizable activity challenges. The upgrade should allow the user to compete against an entire group instead of the current limit of one competitor at a time.
