The Apple watchOS 6 is expected to debut in the coming Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in June this year and with it are some exciting upgrades that will be compatible with the Series 2 to the soon-to-be-launched Series 5.

Although there are no official announcements yet of what the new OS could bring, reliable sources of Apple news are already coming up with their own speculations of what the next watch system could bring. What seems to be accurate is a standalone Apple Watch Store. According to Bloomberg, we could very well see a version of the App Store that caters specifically to the Apple smartwatch.

According to the report, users will be able to directly download apps into the watch once the update takes place and would no longer need a phone equivalent just to use it in the wearable device. The downside, of course, is that you need to be always connected to the net or have LTE connection just to download apps on the go.

The same report mentioned that the watchOS 6 updates would also bring some new standalone apps for the device including the first-party calculator and even Apple Books that can be used for audiobooks listening. Another update that the new OS could bring are new watch faces and watch face complications to complement various lifestyles. Some rumored watch faces include the so-called X-Large, California, Solar Analog, Infograph Subdial and Gradient.

Now what’s interesting as well is that some reports say that it’s possible (or would be great) to have a sleep tracking app available with the launch of the new watchOS 6. If this is true then the rumored sleep tracking function won’t just be available in the upcoming Apple Watch Series 5 but in older models as well. It might also be available in older versions of Apple Watch even before the launch of the next iOS wearable device.

The watchOS 6 will be available for developers in Beta form once it gets introduced at the WWDC in June. The final version is expected to come out by September this year, the target date of the Apple Watch Series 5 release.
