Sorry, superhero fans. Both Kate Kane and Kara Danvers are taking the night off. “Batwoman” and “Supergirl” are not new tonight.

On Sunday, Dec. 15, The CW will air “The Christmas Caroler Challenge” instead of the DC TV shows. The holiday programming will take over both this week and next week’s primetime Sunday slots.

“Batwoman” Season 1 and “Supergirl” Season 5 are officially on winter hiatus. Technically, The CW hasn’t confirmed their return date, but it is clear when Kara (Melissa Benoist) and Kate (Ruby Rose) will be back. Before their individual shows can return, the heroes must first finish “Crisis on Infinite Earths.”

The special five-part Arrowverse crossover started last week, but only three parts aired. It will be another month before DC Comics fans get to see how it ends. Part 4 and Part 5 will air on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 8 p.m. EDT and 9 p.m. EDT.

The final hours will show Batwoman and Supergirl teaming up with the other heroes to fight the Anti-Monitor (LaMonica Garrett). The heroes were last left in the Vanishing Point, an area outside of time and space, to figure out their next move. In the last seconds of the cliffhanger, they discovered Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer) replaced Superman (Brandon Routh) as one of the paragons that can stop the Crisis.

It’s likely that Kate and Kara’s respective Sunday night shows will have midseason premieres the following Sunday, Jan. 19. After all, “Arrow” and “DC’s Legends” of tomorrow will be back on Jan. 21 with their own winter premieres. However, The CW hasn’t confirmed dates for the heroes of Gotham and National City, so fans should check back for updates.

One thing that is certain is that both seasons are far from over. “Batwoman” Season 1 and “Supergirl” Season 5 will each have 22 episodes, so there are plenty more adventures on the way starring the fierce females.
