Armie Hammer recently opened up about his divorce from ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers, describing their split as a “seriously seismic event” in his life.

In an interview with British GQ, the 34-year-old actor shared some details about his personal life and noted that he has been experiencing “growing pains” amid all the changes that he has been going through after the breakup.

The “Call Me By Your Name” actor added that separation is always difficult for everyone and has the potential to destroy someone’s life.

“It is not about whether it was your idea or not, or whether you think it's the right idea or you don't,” Hammer told the magazine of his divorce from his wife of 10 years. “Either way, a separation like this is a seriously seismic event in someone's life. And there's a lot of shifting and a lot of growing pains and a lot of changes.”

The acclaimed star admitted their split came with a lot of challenges, especially when there are children involved. Hammer shares two children, daughter Harper Grace and son Ford Douglas Armand, with Chambers.

“Elizabeth and I are two adults making this decision and the priority is how do we do it in a way that affects our children the least? Or, at least, how do we help get them through this in a way that mitigates as much consternation or fear or damage on their part,” Hammer told the publication.

The actor also revealed that he has been seeing a therapist “twice a week” to cope with all the difficulties that he went through in recent months.

Hammer and Chambers, who met through a mutual friend and tied the knot in 2010, announced their split in July. She filed for divorce from Hammer days after the joint announcement, citing irreconcilable differences.

On July 11, the “Man From U.N.C.L.E.” star shared a statement on his official Instagram account revealing that he and Chambers have decided to “move on” from their marriage.

“Thirteen years as best friends, soulmates, partners, and then parents. It has been an incredible journey, but together, we’ve decided to turn the page and move on from our marriage. As we enter into this next chapter, our children and relationship as co-parents and dear friends will remain our priority,” Hammer wrote.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, the actor will be seen next in the movie “Rebecca” alongside Lily James. Helmed by Ben Wheatley, the movie will stream on Netflix from Oct. 21.
