Will they or won’t they? That’s the big question on the minds of “Bates Motel” fans when it comes to Norma Bates (Vera Farmiga) and Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell). Although Season 4 of the A&E series won’t premiere until 2016, Carbonell recently opened up about the potential romance while at Walker Stalker Con in Atlanta.

Carbonell, 47, sat down with ComicBook.com to talk about the new season. While he remained tight lipped about the upcoming drama, he did tease that his character isn’t done with Norma.

“For my part, whether anything is going to happen with Norma, she’s a frustrating woman, that’s all I’ve got to say,” he explained. “She’s a tough one. She’s a tough nut to crack so we’ll see what happens there.”

That’s not the only hint about Season 4 that Carbonell recently dropped. On Twitter he told fans that he “bleeds ‘Normero’” and that he will never remove his “rose-colored glasses.” Farmiga replied to the tweet in French.

“Bates Motel” viewers know that Norma and Romero are always hot and cold. Although Norma gets mixed up with bad things in the small town of White Pine Bay, Romero seems always there to bail her out. However, with Norman (Freddie Highmore) spiraling out of control, it’s unclear how Romero will continue to protect Norma.

When Fans last left off in the Season 3 finale, Romero essentially killed his nemesis Bob Paris (Kevin Rahm) to keep Norma safe. Romero had issues with Bob, but it was the information that Bob had on Norma and Norman that drove Romero shoot the man before the DEA could get their hands on him.
