Gal Gadot will introduce the DC Comics character Wonder Woman in the forthcoming movie “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.” In recent interviews, director Zack Snyder teased the importance of the character and shared some plot details.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Snyder said that Gadot’s character will be playing a “super-important part” in the forthcoming movie, being like a “gateway drug” to subsquent “Justice League” movies. (Snyder will direct two “Justice League” movies set for release in 2017 and 2019.)

Meanwhile, six new images from "Batman v. Superman" have been posted on Entertainment Weekly. One shows Ben Affleck’s character, Bruce Wayne, meeting Wonder Woman’s alter ego, Diana Prince. The two characters apparently flirt in the scene, which is at a high-society function. Affleck noted that the two characters are pretending to be different people while they each know the other’s secret.

Another photo shows Gadot’s character in the center, flanked by Batman (Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill). Other pictures show Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, with long blond hair, and the two main superheroes facing each other.

The next trailer and more details about “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” are expected to be unveiled at this week's San Diego Comic-Con. EntertainmentWeekly notes that Batman in the forthcoming movie will be “older” and “wearier” than what fans saw in director Christopher Nolan’s trilogy. Affleck says his character is on “the verge of being swallowed up by the anger and the rage” that haunts him.

The report notes how Hollywood has been “preoccupied” with superhero movies and their universe-building. Snyder described making the movie as a “marathon within a marathon” and compared it to a 100-mile race from California's Death Valley to the top of its highest mountain, Mount Whitney.

“Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” also will introduce Aquaman, who will be played by Jason Momoa. The movie is slated to be released March 25, 2016, in the U.S.
