Bella Thorne got candid about her experiences as a public figure and whether or not fame is worth the criticism and its toll on her mental health.

Thorne, 23, has been making headlines since her Disney years. In 2017, Screenrant published a report about Disney stars who went crazy and named her as one example.

Most of the criticism Thorne has received over the years has been aimed at her lifestyle, colorfully dyed hair, bikini and nude photos and drinking. When asked by NME if the fame is worth the "constant online battering and inevitable toll that takes on a person’s mental health," the "Midnight Sun" star admitted that she asks herself this question constantly.

"I think that question comes across your mind every f---ing day," she told NME. "If you’re a public figure, you’re always weighing up how much of yourself are you willing to give up? These questions run [through] my mind all the time so I don’t have an answer yet…"

While she couldn't give a straight response on whether fame is worth it, Thorne said she won't let others decide when she will quit and allow "cancel culture" to consume her.

"It would be so sad [if I quit because of] the media and ‘cancel culture’ and all the annoying people sitting behind a screen wanting to bully people off the internet for no other reason than they’re bored with their own lives," she added. "That’s why I keep fighting, even when I’m going through terrible s--t in the media or I feel like wanting to die inside my bed."

Although she has decided to fight, the "Famous In Love" actress also admitted that it won't be easy. In fact, she said she is still learning how to care less about people's opinions. She acknowledged that it's a process for a reason.

"We naturally want people to like our work – we want them to agree or express that they think we’re good," she explained. "It’s undeniable, but it’s just… how bad do you want that? How much of yourself are you willing to step on to get that?"

In August 2020, Thorne broke records on OnlyFans after making $1 million in her first 24 hours on the subscription platform, before going on to make $2 million in her first week. But 18-year-old rapper, Bhad Bhabie, surpassed her this month after making $1 million just six hours after launching her OnlyFans page.

In March, Thorne announced her engagement to her now-fiancé, Italian singer Benjamin Mascolo. She shared photos and videos on Instagram where she showed off her massive pear-shaped diamond engagement ring.
