KEY POINTS

  • "Better Call Saul" Season 5 will bring back "Breaking Bad" characters
  • Dean Norris, Steven Quezada, and Robert Forster have reprised their roles
  • The spin-off will premiere on Feb. 23

“Better Call Saul” Season 5 will take Jimmy McGill’s (Bob Odenkirk) story one-step closer to the end. AMC announced recently that some of the popular characters from the main “Braking Bad” series will be back in the spin-off.

Hank Schrader (Dean Norris) was a DEA agent in “Breaking Bad” series, and he will now be back in the spin-off along with his partner Steven Gomez (Steven Michael Quezada). AMC Networks released a behind-the-scenes picture of Norris and Quezada chatting with Odenkrik at the production set.

Another big character who will be returning is Ed (Robert Forster). The fans will know Ed from “Breaking Bad” as the man who helped Walter White (Bryan Cranston) relocate to New Hampshire and then helped Saul Goodman to relocate to Omaha. The spin-off series has been giving the fans glimpses of what Jimmy’s life is like in the future in a menial job, and that will continue.

Forster passed away in October last year at the age of 78 because of brain cancer. Executive producer Peter Gould told Entertainment Weekly that he was “excited” to have Forster back for an episode in “Better Call Saul” Season 5. Praising Forster, the producer said that the actor was so accomplished that he always “made it look so easy.”

Gould had previously teased that the show will continue to explore the complex relationship between Jimmy and Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn). The story will be about what Jimmy means to Kim.

As the show races closer to the “Breaking Bad” timeline, the fans should know that there is still a lot of story left before the spin-off connects to the main series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the spin-off will end with Season 6.

“Better Call Saul” Season 5 will premiere on Feb. 23. The wait for the show’s return has been a long one because Season 4 ended in October 2018.
