"Dragon Age" developer BioWare could be teasing the next entry of the series with the upcoming "Dragon 4ge Day" event.

The event, deliberately named "Dragon 4ge Day," is meant to celebrate the "Dragon Age" RPG series' 10th anniversary, and there's apparently a mysterious reveal set for December, at long last.

"Today marks 10 years of 'Dragon Age'! This year we’re excited to join the community’s party on Dec. 4 and celebrate a decade together in the world we all love. See you on 12/4 for 'Dragon 4ge' Day!" read the initial tweet.

It's been five years since the release of "Dragon Age: Inquisition" in 2014, and we've seen hide nor hair of the next "Dragon Age game since then save for a brief announcement trailer during the 2018 Game Awards presentation.

Thus, fans have really been feeling the frustration, especially since the first game, "Dragon Age: Origins, first released in 2009. That means it's been 10 years since the franchise was introduced, and in that timespan it's only gotten three games. "Dragon Age 2" debuted in 2011.

Previously, Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen made hints that the game may be coming as early as 2022 – or even in 2023, depending on the timeframe involved.

"You know, Dragon Age [is] out there, and we talked about it publicly that it’s in the works and probably comes after fiscal [20]22,” he said during a discussion of EA's Q2 FY2020 earnings report. It's possible the waiting time could end up extending into 2023. That's still good news for "Dragon Age" fans, who have gotten accustomed at this point to having to wait a ridiculous amount of time to hear more about their favorite franchise.

Whether this new "Dragon Age" event will bring forward any new information about the series is yet to be seen. But it's the best and biggest thing for fans to pin their hopes on at this point. The year's almost out, and there's another The Game Awards on the horizon. It's possible there may be another big announcement at the show for 2019. Otherwise, it looks like fans may have to wait some time for a new entry in the franchise.
