Namor the Sub-Mariner is a character from the comics who is expected to be the main villain in “Black Panther 2.” “Crazy Rich Asians” star Henry Golding admired the character in a recent interview, but he said he hasn’t spoken with Marvel about the role.

Golding has been a part of “The Gentlemen” and he has been cast as Snake Eyes in the upcoming “G.I. Joe” film, making him a good candidate to be a part of “Black Panther 2.” In an interview with MTV News, he hinted at his interest in playing Namor in the Marvel film.

In the comics, Namor is from the kingdom of Atlantis. Golding appears to know everything about the character. The actor explained that the character is neither a hero nor a villain. The comic book character is more of an anti-hero.

Noting the excitement Golding has for Namor, he was asked if he is in talks with Marvel to play the role. The actor immediately rejected the idea and said “no, of course not.”

Namor is one of the many characters that the fans are hoping to see in “Black Panther 2.” Along with the new characters, the fans will get to see some familiar faces in the sequel.

According to CBR, some of the characters that would make the film exciting are Namor, M’Baku (Winston Duke), Doctor Doom, Achebe, and Kraven the Hunter. On the other hand, the characters that the fans may not like to see on screen in the sequel are Klaue (Andy Serkis), White Wolf, Hate-Monger, American Panther, Barricade, and Malice.

“Black Panther 2” is set to be released on May 6, 2022. Director Ryan Coogler previously said that he and his team are taking their time with the sequel to make sure that they get it right, The Verge reported. The film may have connections to the upcoming TV series like “The Winter Soldier” and “The Falcon.”
