Blake Shelton never blatantly said ex-wife Miranda Lambert cheated on him, but it certainly seemed like that when he compared that relationship to what happened with current girlfriend Gwen Stefani and her ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale, during an interview with Billboard Magazine Thursday. The country crooner said they went through similar breakups, which led people to think Lambert cheated since Rossdale had an affair with the family’s nanny.

Even though they worked on NBC’s “The Voice” together, Shelton and Stefani didn’t become close until he announced his divorce to the cast and crew. "I won't forget that day," he told Billboard. “I looked over at Gwen — who I didn't really know — and she had these huge tears in her eyes. I thought, ‘Wow, she feels super bad for me!’”

He was surprised when she asked to talk to him alone. “She didn't tell me much, because we didn't know each other at the time, but she said, ‘I'm going through something very similar to what you're going through. I understand. And I hate it,” Shelton explained. “That's kind of how our friendship and bond started, that day.”

The two started to email each other about “s--- that happened and eventually they exchanged phone numbers. “Next thing I know, I wake up and she's all I care about, and I'm wondering if she feels the same about me,” he said.

Lambert penned a cryptic Instagram post last week where she discussed their divorce. “The last year of my life has been one of heartache and healing, ...Of learning to be honest.... Accepting the flaws and celebrating the smiles,” she wrote. “Finding peace in dark places ... having some moments alone with me. Facing fears and feelings... All of them.”

Through the pain and growth, she was able to reconnect with her music. “I got to know my guitars...became friends with a pencil and paper ... Used melodies to lead me places I had never been.... Made music with my friends. Because music is medicine,” said.
