Blake Shelton recently talked about his relationship with Gwen Stefani and said that meeting his girlfriend was definitely not an accident.

Four and a half years ago, Shelton and Stefani crossed paths on “The Voice” after the latter was tapped to be a coach on the show. At that time, Shelton just got out of his marriage to Miranda Lambert. Stefani’s marriage to Gavin Rossdale had just ended as well.

While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the country crooner said that he’s convinced God paved the way for them to cross paths during that difficult time in their lives.

“Each of us knows that the timing, and the manner she and I met and got here collectively, it simply felt like residence, that’s not an accident. I feel that the manner that she and I have been in a position to save one another’s lives and get ourselves by that point it was proof to us that God had a hand in it,” he said.

During his interview with The Tennessean, Shelton also said that Stefani brought him closer to God. After they started dating, the country musician started going to church again.

Meanwhile, religion and spirituality weren’t the only two things that Shelton learned from his girlfriend. Stefani has also encouraged the singer to be a better person in general.

While speaking with ET, Shelton admitted that he was a jerk before he started dating the No Doubt singer. He also said that he no longer wants to remember what he was like before his girlfriend came into his life.

During the same interview, Stefani also revealed how her boyfriend has impacted her life. She said that all of her family and friends know that it was Shelton who saved her life.

Like, we’re just having the time of our lives, and we never expected that this late in our lives, so we’re just trying to savor every moment together, and just to be back on ‘The Voice’ as well, not to change the subject, but working together again has been really fun, and I love being here and I love being with him,” she said.
