‘Blindspot’
Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) and Kurt Weller’s (Sullivan Stapleton) final scene in “Blindspot” Season 2 seemed like a perfect ending for the entire series. NBC

“Blindspot” Season 3 has already been renewed by NBC, but there are still rumors that Season 2 would’ve been the last for the series.

TV Line writer Michael Ausiello recently responded to a question regarding one scene in the Season 2 finale. Ausiello was asked whether or not Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) and Kurt Weller’s (Sullivan Stapleton) futuristic scene in the finale was contingent on the series’ Season 3 renewal. At the time, it appeared as though the finale was written not just as a season-ender, but as a series finale.

Ausiello explained that the creators of “Blindspot” came up with only one finale for Season 2. This means that regardless of whether or not Season 3 was picked up by NBC, the same finale will be released by the network. “Nope, there was only one version of the ‘Blindspot’ Season 2 finale, and you saw it on your TV box. That super-provocative flash forward was always a part of it,” the writer explained.

Meanwhile, “Blindspot” Season 3 has been moved from its Wednesday time slot to Friday. As of late, it is still unclear how many episodes the upcoming season will have. What is only known is that Alexander’s TV show will still premiere sometime in the fall.

While speaking with Collider, executive producer Martin Gero explained his plans for Season 3 and said that the upcoming installment will be like a “soft reboot.” “Our show runs on secrets. All of these reveals are incredibly important to the show, and we realized, very early on, even in the first season, that by the end of Season 2, we were gonna know an awful lot about those characters, in a way that having some sort of massive reveal come out of nowhere might feel artificial,” he explained.

Gero also acknowledged the fact that Jane’s tattoos weren’t given as much focus in Season 2 as compared to Season 1. This is why in Season 3, majority of the episodes will once again revolve around the marks on her body. Additionally, Patterson’s (Ashley Johnson) puzzles that end in wonderful reveals will also be at the center of Season 3.
