“Blindspot” Season 3 lead star Jaimie Alexander recently revealed why she decided to play the role of Jane Doe in the hit NBC series.

While speaking with Nerdist’s Chris Hardwick, the Texas native said that she was personally asked to play the lead part in the series. Initially, creator Martin Gero was so excited to cast the actress because he thought that she was also Canadian like him. After all, Alexander’s other series, “Kyle XY,” was filmed in Vancouver.

Alexander shared that before being cast in “Blindspot,” she was already contemplating on what to star in next. The actress wanted to be part of TV series where she can also showcase her background in martial arts and the other trainings she underwent for her previous projects. A call from someone from the series came just right in time.

Meanwhile, the lead star also detailed what it’s like to put on all of the tattoos on her body with the help of her makeup artist. Alexander said that there were times she had to stand up for eight hours just so the artist could accurately draw her tattoos. But despite the challenge of inking her body, Alexander is very happy to be part of the show that she believes keeps getting more exciting with every episode.

“Blindspot” Season 3 is expected to premiere on NBC on Oct. 27. Prior to this, Gero spoke with Entertainment Weekly to give fans an update about Zapata (Audrey Esparza) in the two-year time-jump. According to him, Zapata joined the CIA in the intervening two years.

“Zapata has been increasingly frustrated with how the FBI did business in the back half of the second season and so, for us, it made a lot of sense for her to just try something new and so she went over and started working with the CIA this year. The FBI and the CIA will work together much closer. It’s not going to be as contentious as a relationship as it was in the first two seasons. They will be working in consort with each other,” he explained.

“Blindspot” Season 3 will air at 8 p.m. EDT.
