Did Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston have an "ugly showdown" with Angelina Jolie? This is what a previous tabloid report has claimed, but months later, there is still no sign of a feud between the exes.

Tabloid NW published a report one year ago claiming that Pitt and Aniston had gotten back together and were going to go public with their relationship at an Oscars party. But the two stars reportedly feared that they would have a "run-in" with Pitt's estranged wife, Jolie. However, Aniston and Pitt have not rekindled their romance nor did they attend any Oscars party together in 2018 or this year.

Last year, NW claimed that Jolie was likely to run into Pitt and Aniston at a party. An unnamed "close friend" of the exes reportedly told the tabloid that Aniston and Pitt were preparing for an "ugly showdown" with Jolie at one of the Oscar parties. The so-called source went on to claim that Pitt and the "Friends" star were “going to do what they want to do" and were planning to ignore Jolie and "her temper" if they do run into her.

But there is absolutely no truth to these claims. While Pitt did attend Aniston's lavish 50th birthday party this February, the actor did not attend any of the Oscars parties. The same is true for Jolie, who has been busy taking her kids on outings around New York City and attending events in the Big Apple around the same time the Academy Awards was happening.

As for Aniston and Pitt's relationship after reuniting at her party, a source recently told Us Weekly that the two are only friends and do not plan on rekindling their romance.

"Jen and Brad are still in touch and speak, but there still isn’t anything going on romantically between them,” the insider said, before adding that Aniston is "also in touch with [Pitt's] mom."

Despite rumors claiming that Pitt and Aniston may have gotten back together during her birthday bash, an insider previously said that the two didn't even talk all that much during the party.

“Jen spoke to Brad briefly. At one point she hugged him and thanked him for coming. … It didn’t seem like that big of a deal to Jen,” a source told the outlet back in February “The invite went out to a ton of people and he accepted. She was happy he was there, but that was it. She was busy making the rounds and excited to see so many people near and dear to her.”

Pitt and Aniston were married for five years before they divorced in 2005. The actor started dating Jolie soon after and spent 10 years together before tying the knot. However, Jolie ended things when she filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016, and the two are currently in the middle of settling the terms of their split and the custody of their six children.
