Prince Charles has returned to the public eye a week after testing positive for COVID-19. The Prince of Wales, 71, had been in self-isolation following his diagnosis but is now said to be in good health.

Prince Charles had continued to work from his home in Scotland while self-isolating over the last week.

Following a meeting with his doctor, Prince Charles returned to his royal duties and will resume official meetings. However, in doing so he will continue adhering to official medical guidelines put forward to prevent the spread of the virus.

The eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles is the heir-apparent to the British throne. Concern had mounted following the news of his diagnosis, as his advanced age would have put him at a greater risk of serious complications from the novel coronavirus. His wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, has tested negative but remains in isolation.

Prince Charles had reportedly visited his mother at Buckingham Palace up to 24 hours prior to his positive diagnosis, according to royal correspondent Chris Ship. Neither the Queen nor her husband, Prince Philip, have reportedly tested positive for the virus and both remain in good health. Nevertheless, the two began self-isolating as a precaution last week.

The United Kingdom is currently ranked eighth in the world for total coronavirus cases. According to Johns Hopkins University, the country has 22,444 confirmed cases and 1,411 reported deaths. In addition to Prince Charles, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has also tested positive for the virus and is currently in self-isolation at his Downing Street residence.
