  • BTS lost to Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande in last year's Brit Awards
  • ARMY reactions are divided on BTS' nomination
  • BTS has 25 world record titles that landed them a spot in Guinness Book of World Records

BTS’ nomination for the international group category at the upcoming Brit Awards drew mixed reactions from its fans known as the ARMY.

Nominations for the 2022 Brit Awards were announced over the weekend, with the global sensation being nominated in the international group category for the second consecutive year.

However, ARMYs are divided on whether to cheer for the group or to ignore the nomination citing last year’s event when BTS lost to American sister trio, Haim in the same category.

Some fans expressed high hopes that the world’s most famous boyband can beat the other nominees for the trophy which include ABBA, Maneskin, Silk Sonic and The War On Drugs.

“Fingers crossed for a brit nomination for bts in the international category ,” Twitter user @hemabangtanarmy said in her tweet.

But another fan was not entirely happy with the nomination and wrote, “ not too excited because we all remember last year .”

Other ARMYs harped on their disappointment over BTS losing the 2021 Grammy Award to Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s “Rain On Me” for the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

“I’ll celebrate If they get the award… won’t hold my breath for it, though… ,”@GrimmEnbiest tweeted.

“Exactly my thinking... giving them the same type of attitude as the Grammys because I don't trust either,” user @jiminoongie echoed.

The famous septet lost to Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga, but their explosive performance of “Dynamite” was one of the most applauded performances at the 2021 Grammy Awards.

In November, the group also became the first Asian act to receive three trophies from the American Music Awards including the Artist of the Year award.

Prior to this, BTS had already scored 25 world record titles that earned them a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Among these include becoming the first K-pop group to reach Number 1 on Billboard 200 and the first K-Pop act to top the Billboard Artist 100 with their “Love Yourself: Tear” album in May 2018.

The group was also the most streamed artist on Spotify with over 16.3 billion streams, a title previously held by their “My Universe” collaborators, Coldplay with 16.1 billion streams.

BTS also claimed the World Record for Most Retweeted Account and most Twitter engagements for a group in 2019 and Most Viewed YouTube video in 24 hours for “Dynamite” with over 101 million views in its first 24 hours of release in August 2020.
