BTS formally renewed its bid for a major music award and has submitted its smash hit “Butter” to compete in the Best Pop Duo/Group category of the 2022 Grammy Awards.

This year, "Butter," a chart-topping hit in the Billboard charts, is going against other big names in the music industry for the said category. BTS is up against 24kGoldn and Iann Dior for “Mood,” Doja Cat and Sza for “Kiss Me More,” The Kid Laroi and Miley Cyrus for “Without You,” and Lizzo and Cardi B. for “Rumors.”

“Butter” was earlier hailed by Billboard as this year’s "Song Of The Summer" after staying strong in the charts for over 10 weeks.

Last year, BTS' "Dynamite" failed to get the 2021 Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Category. The trophy was awarded to Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande for their collaborative music, “Rain On Me.”

Though the boy band failed to get the coveted award, BTS had undoubtedly made history as it became the first K-pop act to be nominated for a Grammy. Consequently, the band was also the first K-pop act to perform one of its hits at the Grammys.

The septet consisting of members J-Hope, Jimin, Jin, Jungkook, RM, Suga, and V also made history with their explosive performance of “Dynamite” during the awards night in L.A. on March 14.

Here is a video of the band's unforgettable performance at the Grammy Awards ceremony last year.

The 63rd Grammy Awards were held in a hybrid format which included live and recorded performances. BTS delivered a live rendition of "Dynamite" on top of the roof of Hyundai Seoul Mall in Yeouido.

The official nominees for the 64th Grammy Awards will be announced on Nov. 23 and the awards show will be held on Jan. 31, 2022, at the Staples Center in L.A.

The 2022 Grammys Awards show will also be streamed live and on demand on Paramount + and can be viewed live on the CBS TV network.

This year, the Recording Academy introduced major changes in order to ensure that rules and guidelines are transparent and equitable.

One of the changes entails that nominations in all of the categories will now be determined by a majority, peer-to-peer vote of Recording Academy voting members.
