KEY POINTS

  • "Butter" is currently at No. 9 on Billboard's Pop Airplay chart
  • "Dynamite" holds the record for most weeks on the chart
  • "Butter" is still at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100

South Korea's most successful boyband, BTS, has reached another milestone after their second all-English song, "Butter," spent 10 weeks on Billboard's Pop Airplay chart.

"Butter" is at No. 9 position on this week's Pop Airplay chart, which ranks songs with the largest audience reach on mainstream pop stations across the United States. According to Forbes, only a few South Korean musicians have made it to the chart. But the most notable thing about "Butter" is the number of weeks it has stayed in the tally despite new songs popping up every week.

The group's 2020 song "Dynamite" still holds the record for the most weeks spent on the Pop Airplay chart after it stayed there for 20 weeks. It beat Psy's "Gangnam Style," which managed to stay for 19 weeks on the ranking chart in 2012, the report said.

One of BTS' previous hits, "MIC Drop," was also on Billboard's Pop Airplay chart for 10 weeks.

"Butter" is still on top of Billboard's Hot 100 after it was released 10 weeks ago.

It was briefly replaced by "Permission to Dance" for one week but it quickly bounced back to No.1 position, while the other BTS song fell to No. 7.

BTS also recently made history as the first musical group to replace their No. 1 track at the Billboard Hot 100 chart with one of their own songs since 2018, Billboard said.

With the achievement, BTS joins the ranks of other megastars such as The Beatles, BoyzIIMen, Outkast and Black Eyed Peas in the category of a duo or group who replaced their own No.1 song with another chart-topping track on Billboard's Hot 100.

The septet also joins Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber and Drake in the roster of artists with at least four No.1 debuts in the Billboard Hot 100.
