“Burden of Truth” Season 3 comes to an end Thursday, and fans are already wondering if the legal drama will come back. They’re waiting to find out if the show will be canceled or renewed for Season 4. Unfortunately, that’s likely not a decision The CW will make.

The CW airs “Burden of Truth,” but they’re just a distributor. The Kristin Kruek drama is actually a Canadian import. That means the decision to cancel or renew rests with the CBC.

“Burden of Truth” wrapped up its Canadian run in February, and CBC still hasn’t renewed it yet. The CBC might be waiting for production to be safe again before they make any renewal announcements. However, the Winnipeg Free Press reports that Season 4 is scheduled to start shooting in the Canadian city in late August.

Audiences will have to hang tight while they wait for the network to announce an official decision. In the meantime, “Burden of Truth” fans are making it clear that they don’t want their show to be canceled. Fans are already asking for a Season 4 renewal on social media, and some have even launched a change.org petition to demand more episodes.

“This show is SO powerful! It's the most unique legal drama on TV and I think that's mostly because of the stories behind the cases,” the appeal says. “This show talks about so many important topics that often get swept under the rug, but Burden shines a light on those subjects in an honest way that helps give understanding and opens up conversations.”

The petition has not yet met its goal of 1,000 signatures.

As long as CBC renews the show, The CW will likely air it. The network has enjoyed a good relationship with Kreuk dating back to the CW's launch. Among the actress's projects, they've aired all her most recognizable TV shows including "Smallville," "Beauty and the Beast" and now "Burden of Truth."

The “Burden of Truth” Season 3 finale airs Thursday at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
