Starz is saying goodbye to “Hightown” on Sunday, July 12—but is it gone forever? As Season 1 comes to an end, fans might be wondering if the crime drama has been canceled or renewed. Luckily, they already have an answer as to whether the show is coming back.

“Hightown” has been renewed for Season 2. The show, which earned the renewal last month, will return for another year once production can safely resume.

Cancellation wasn’t a huge concern for “Hightown” fans. After all, the ratings have been impressive. According to a Starz press release, “Hightown” was its highest-rated series premiere ever with 1.45 million viewers watching on television, and that number doubled when the Starz app and OTT platforms were included.

Christina Davis, president of Starz’s original programming, teased that the new Season 2 episodes “will continue to dive deeper into the relationships between them amidst the shifting tides on the Cape.”

The Jerry Bruckheimer-produced series follows Jackie Quiñones (Monica Raymund), an alcoholic who finds a body in Cape Cod. Finding the victim makes Jackie start the path to sobriety, but that’s interrupted by her overwhelming need to solve the murder.

The series also stars James Badge Dale (“24”), Riley Voelkel (“Roswell, New Mexico”), Shane Harper (“Code Black”), Amaury Nolasco (“Prison Break”), Atkins Estimond (“The Resident”) and Dohn Norwood (“Mindhunter”).

Starz is giving audiences a chance to catch up before the Season 1 finale airs. On Sunday, July 5 at 3 p.m. EDT, the network will start a “Hightown” marathon. Viewers can tune in to see all seven Season 1 episodes before the season finale airs next week on July 12 at 10 p.m. EDT on Starz.
