An unidentified woman was taken into custody after allegedly urinating on the floor of a Verizon store in California when she refused to leave for not wearing a face mask.

In a 911 call obtained by CBS Sacramento, a dispatch operator told authorities that Verizon employees asked three customers to leave the store for not wearing face coverings. At one point, the operator was heard saying that the customers were “refusing to leave, not wearing a mask... they've asked several times and she refuses.”

Three minutes after the first call was made, the operator then said that the staff called back and claimed that the woman had pulled down her pants and began to urinate on the store floor.

Roseville Police said responding officers arrested the woman after they discovered stolen merchandise from a nearby Dick's Sporting Goods store in her vehicle.

It is unclear what charges were filed against the woman, Complex reported.

Residents who heard about the incident were surprised at how the woman expressed herself to be in contrast to Governor Gavin Newsom's mandate for all Californians to wear face masks while in public.

“Absolutely not. That's totally inappropriate. We're not animals.

“I'm disappointed that we as a society choose to have this unity and let the virus divide us,” said Michelle Davidson.

Kelly Berger on the other pointed out that what the woman's reaction was “not the right way.”

“Simply wear the mask or leave I guess,” Berger added.

Verizon spokesperson Heidi Flato told CBS Sacramento that the incident “wasn't just about the company's face mask policy,” but further reminded the public that Verizon continues to observe safety measures such as 1:1 customer to rep ratio, social distancing and requiring employees and customers to wear face masks.

Verizon's effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 comes after Newsom's face covering order last month.

“California's strategy to restart the economy and get people back to work will only be successful if people act safely and follow health recommendations. That means wearing face covering, washing your hands and practicing physical distancing,” according to the Los Angeles Times.

However, this was met by several officials and police departments not enforcing the mandate, saying that they will not use the “force of law” to make sure that residents wear face masks, said Fox News.
