  • “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” players reported a lot of incidents where they encountered cheaters
  • The game is just on its beta phase but cheating is rampant
  • There is a proven and practical technique to avoid cheaters in “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War”

“Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” players can disable the crossplay option so that cheating may be avoided.

“Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” is just on its beta phase and still a few weeks away from its official release. However, as the game’s beta opened up to crossplay for various gaming platforms, cheaters started to pop up. Players frustrated with cheaters can do this practical tip to avoid encountering them in the game.

Most cheats in “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” were designed for PC. Because of this, some gaming console players began disabling crossplay to possibly avoid cheaters. By doing this, players have a lesser chance of encountering wallhacks or aimbots.

This technique, however, has a trade-off. It includes longer queues in the lobbies for gaming console players. While others might not like this trade-off, several “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” players would rather endure waiting for a lobby than dealing with toxic cheaters and hackers.

Over the past year, community issues related to cheating have exponentially increased in the “Call of Duty” franchise. In “Call of Duty: Warzone,” incidents of cheating led to unplayable online matches. Activision released several statements of filing lawsuits to fight cheaters and sites selling game exploits.

Reddit user and “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” player madzuk shared a video of a Cartel match in the game’s beta. In the footage, an opponent appeared to be aimbotting with their XM4 spinning around the map, locking one opponent after another. The activity caused the cheater to rack up an impressive record of 94 kills in the game.

The video is an example and a confirmation that even at the game’s beta stage, some “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” players are already using cheats to get ahead of other players. Will Activision do something about this and totally eliminate these cheaters by the time the game launches?

“Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” is scheduled to arrive on Nov. 13. The upcoming game is playable on PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
