  • Candace Owens denounced Kim Kardashian's decision to allow her daughter North to be on TikTok
  • The political commentator noted that the "psychological effects" of social media on young girls are "real and documented"
  • Kanye West thanked Owens following her tweets

Candace Owens is backing up Kanye West as he engages in a public feud with estranged wife Kim Kardashian about their 8-year-old daughter North's presence on TikTok.

West, 44, said he wants to restrict his children's access to social media, but the 41-year-old reality star, who filed for divorce last year, deemed it unnecessary, insisting that North's supervised TikTok account brings her "happiness."

Amid West and Kardashian's public back-and-forth, Owens took to Twitter to share her thoughts on the debate.

"Kim is wrong on this one," the conservative political commentator and "Blackout" author tweeted. "The psychological effects of social media on young girls [are] real and documented. It's actually Kanye that is trying to protect his daughter in this regard and Kim is spinning this as 'obsession' and 'control.' There are other creative outlets for kids."

In a separate tweet, she added, "There is no 8 year old in the world that needs social media. Go color."

One Twitter user defended Kardashian and commented on Owens' post, "How about Kanye deal with it in private?"

Owens responded that North has millions of followers on social media and that the "Donda" artist has already repeatedly asked Kardashian to remove the account. "Privacy isn't something Kim understands. But public backlash she does," she added.

Following Owens' tweets, West — who also shares Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 2, with Kardashian — gave a shoutout to the political commentator via Instagram.

"Thank you, Candace, for being the only noteworthy person to speak on the issue," West captioned a screenshot of two of Owens' tweets on the topic, noting that other celebrities have expressed their support to him privately.

West called out Kardashian via Instagram Friday for continuing to allow their eldest daughter to post videos on TikTok.

"Since this is my first divorce, I need to know what I should do about my daughter being put on TikTok against my will?" he wrote alongside a screenshot of North from one of her videos, which are posted with Kardashian's approval.

Kardashian clapped back at her ex in a statement shared on her Instagram Story. She said that West's "constant attacks on me in interviews and on social media is actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create."

Kardashian noted in her statement that she is their children's "main provider and caregiver" and that she is doing her best to protect their kids while allowing them to express their creativity in the medium that they prefer "with adult supervision."

She added that their divorce is already difficult for their kids but that West's "obsession with trying to control and manipulate our situation so negatively and publicly is only causing further pain for all."

The Skims founder went on to say that she wants nothing but "a healthy and supportive co-parenting relationship." However, the "Gold Digger" rapper apparently makes it "impossible every step of the way."

"I wish to handle all matters regarding our children privately, and hopefully, he can finally respond to the third attorney he has had in the last year to resolve any issues amicably," Kardashian concluded her statement.
