Not all celebrities are interested in being just another beautiful, talented face in Hollywood. There are several stars who have expressed their interest in politics, and while the thought of a star holding a position in government used to be considered a joke, the elections of stars like Ronald Reagan, Donald Trump and Arnold Schwarzenegger prove that celebrities can successfully transition into politicians.

While those stars have already secured their spots in the government, check out this list of actors, reality stars and musicians who plan to also run for office.

Caitlyn Jenner

The Olympic athlete formerly known as Bruce Jenner revealed last week that she is considering running for the U.S. Senate representing California. “I have considered it. I like the political side of it,” Jenner stated during a radio interview with AM 970.

Although she has not confirmed the run, the “I Am Cait” reality star is expected to make a decision within the next six months. The TV personality revealed that she needs to find out where she “can do a better job.”

“Can I do a better job from the outside, kind of working the perimeter of the political scene, being open to talk to anybody? Or are you better off from the inside, and we are in the process of determining that,” she explained.

Jenner also revealed that she already has an idea of how she wants to make a difference. “I hope to change the perception of the Republican Party and make it the party of equality,” the star said.

Dwayne Johnson

In June 2016, the actor hinted that he would consider running for office after the Washington Post wrote an article explaining that he could win the 2020 presidential election. “I care DEEPLY about our county... and the idea of one day becoming President to create real positive impact and global change is very alluring. Buuuuut until that possible day, the most important thing right now is strong honest leadership from our current and future leaders of this country,” he wrote on Instagram.

That October a fan tweeted at the actor, writing, “@TheRock For President.” “Maybe one day. Thanks man,” the former wrestler replied. One month later, he told Vanity Fair his presidential run was definitely a possibility. “I wouldn’t rule it out,” he said.

“It would be a great opportunity to help people, so it’s possible. This past election shows that anything can happen.”

Kid Rock

The musician, born Robert Ritchie, announced Monday that he plans to run for the U.S. Senate representing Michigan in 2018 against Democrat candidate Debbie Stabenow. Although the politician thought the rock star was joking in his tweet Wednesday, he revealed he is very serious about trying his hand at politics.

“It’s not a hoax, it’s a strategy and marketing 101!” Rock said in a Facebook statement. The artist went on to reveal that he plans to be the “voice for tax paying, hardworking Americans.”

Kid Rock also revealed part of his campaign platform on Twitter. “I believe if you work your butt off and pay taxes, you should be able to easily understand and navigate the laws, tax codes, health care and anything else the government puts in place that affects us all,” the statement read.

Kanye West

Yeezy for president? West first announced his interest in the 2020 presidential election while accepting the Video Vanguard award at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.

“And yes, I have decided, as you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president,” he said during his time on stage.

One year later, the rapper explained that he was still interested in politics even though he doesn’t necessarily have political views. “When I’ve talked about the idea of being President, I’m not saying I have any political views, I don’t have views on politics, I just have a view on humanity. On people. On the truth,” he stated.

“If there’s anything that I can do with my time and my day to somehow make a difference, while I’m alive, imma try to do it. Period,” West added.

After meeting with President Trump, West tweeted “2024,” possibly pushing back his presidential plans.

Antonio Sabato Jr.

The “General Hospital” alum announced that he would be running for Congress in California in May. CNN reported that the actor, who spoke at the Republican National Convention, will probably use his connections with the Trump administration to help him stand out as a candidate.

GOP strategist Charles Moran told the Los Angeles Times that the actor has “has long been interested in politics and public policy, but his experiences at the convention prompted him to consider running for office.”
