Emmett gets to know more about Quentin in this week’s episode of “The Chi.”

According to the synopsis for Season 1, episode 7 of the Showtime drama, Emmett (Jacob Latimore) spends an eye-opening day with Quentin (Steven Williams). While it’s unclear how Emmett gets to hang out with the kingpin elder, a new featurette for the Lena Waithe-created series suggests that Quentin needs Emmett’s help in dealing with the firearms they stole from Trice’s (Tosin Morohunfola) crew last episode.

“Emmett, do you know what I do?” Quentin casually asks the young father as they snack on sandwiches on the street.

When Emmett says he’s got an idea, Quentin asks what it is.

“You hustle,” Emmett says, causing Quentin to laugh.

But Quentin’s mood quickly turns serious and goes on to correct Emmett: “No, Emmett. I don’t hustle. I run things.”

At some point in the featurette, Quentin brings Emmett to the place where they’re hiding the guns.

Elsewhere in the episode, Brandon (Jason Mitchell) compromises his employment by defending a co-worker. While the workplace incident remains to be seen, Brandon appears to have reached out to his ex-girlfriend Jerrika (Tiffany Boone) for help.

“What are you gonna do now?” Jerrika asks Brandon.

“Trying to do the right thing, I guess,” he replies.

Also in the next installment, Kevin (Alex Hibbert) tries to get Andrea’s (Mariah Gordon) attention at the roller rink, while Tracy attends a support group among mothers who lost their children due to violence.

In a sneak peek from the episode, the facilitator of the support group quickly recognizes Tracy as the mother of Jason (Lucien Cambric), the promising basketball player who got killed at the beginning of the season. An attendee named Tasha then throws shade at Tracy by suggesting that Jason’s death doesn’t deserve all the attention it gets.

“They made that big memorial for your boy up in the 79th street. He’s all up in the news,” Tasha tells Tracy. “Your son gets memorialized and topped up. But my son, not a thing.”

Instead of getting mad at what she heard, Tracy says that she understands where Tasha is coming from. “If I was you I’d be pissed off too,” Ronnie’s (Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine) ex-lover says.

As if it’s not already obvious, the facilitator tells Tracy, “If you’re looking for hugs, somebody that’s gonna tell you it’s going to be all right, this is the wrong place to be.” When Tracy admits that she’s not quite sure yet what she’s looking for, the ladies inside the hall easily feel for her.

“The Chi” Season 1, episode 7, titled “The Whistle,” airs on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 10 p.m. EST on Showtime.
