NBC’s “Chicago P.D.” set up a major storyline for Intelligence Unit Sergeant Hank Voight and his daughter-like mentee Detective Erin Lindsay in for Season 4. Voight murdered his son Justin’s killer in the final moments of the Season 3 finale with Lindsay aware of his actions. However, the father-daughter pair won’t be the only ones sharing the spotlight on the upcoming season of the drama series.

District 21’s Desk Sergeant Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) will have a major arc in Season 4. An episode airing early on in the season will see her take the spotlight when some jumps and attacks her. Worse, she will be beaten within an inch of her life, according to the executive producer of “Chicago P.D.,” Matt Olmstead. “It’s a real tour de force episode for [portrayer] Amy Morton,” he told TVLine.

It isn’t uncommon for “Chicago P.D.” characters to be in trouble, but it will be interesting to see how Platt reacts to the grievous assault.

Meanwhile, the Season 4 premiere will see Commander Crowley (Barbara Eve Harris) launch an investigation into Voight (Jason Beghe) and Lindsay (Sophia Bush) after she suspects that both, especially the former, had something to do with the investigation into Justin’s killer. Things will also heat up for Lindsay. Olmstead revealed, “She’s [Lindsay’s] identified by Commander Crowley as knowing more than anybody else does, due to her closeness with Voight.”

Elsewhere, patrol officer Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) gets a new partner (played by Li Jun Li) who just left her job wiring parking tickets in the Season 4 premiere.

Furthermore, Chicago police department officer Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) will try to move on from his ex-girlfriend, Burgess.

“Chicago P.D.” Season 4 premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC.
