  • Rock is still on his comedy tour and has no plans to reach out to Smith, a report claims
  • Smith released a video on his YouTube channel Friday, in which he offered another public apology to Rock and the comedian's family

Chris Rock has no desire to speak to Will Smith despite the latter's recent public apology, a report says.

Last week, the "King Richard" actor released a video apologizing to the comedian for slapping him at the 94th Academy Awards ceremony in March. At the time, Smith, 53, stormed the stage and smacked Rock across the face after the latter joked about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith's bald head while presenting an award.

An unnamed source told Entertainment Tonight that Smith hopes that Rock would publicly accept his apology. However, the "Men In Black" star may have to wait longer for that to happen.

"Chris has no plans to reach out to Will," the source told the outlet.

The insider added that they believe the timing of the apology was more for Smith's best interest. "He needs the public's forgiveness, not Chris," the source said.

In a video uploaded on his YouTube channel Friday, Smith offered another public apology to Rock, Rock’s family and his own family and friends for the incident. The Oscar winner also claimed that he has reached out to the comedian but that Rock was not ready to speak to him at the time.

"I've reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that he's not ready to talk, and when he is he will reach out," Smith said. "So I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable, and I'm here whenever you're ready to talk."

The "Gemini Man" star previously issued a public apology via Instagram a day after the incident. He admitted that his behavior at the 2022 Oscars ceremony was "unacceptable and inexcusable" and claimed that "a joke about Jada's medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally." Pinkett Smith has been open about her struggles with alopecia.

"I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong," Smith wrote in his statement at the time. "I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness."

Rock has not released a statement about Smith's latest apology, but he continues to make passing jokes about the incident.

On the same day Smith uploaded his apology video, Rock joked about the Oscars slap when he was on stage in Atlanta, Georgia, as part of his "Chris Rock Ego Death World Tour."

"Everybody is trying to be a f---ing victim. If everybody claims to be a victim, then nobody will hear the real victims," Rock said, CNN reported. "Even me getting smacked by Suge Smith ... I went to work the next day, I got kids."

He later added, "Anyone who says words hurt has never been punched in the face."
