  • Coachella and Stagecoach festivals for 2020 have been canceled
  • Both music festivals were moved to April 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Coachella and Stagecoach 2020 were initially set to happen in April

There will be no Coachella and Stagecoach festivals this year.

Stagecoach and Coachella 2020 were initially set to happen in April. However, last March, the organizers decided to move the events to October due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The organizers have changed their minds again and decided to skip this year. The next Coachella and Stagecoach festivals have been rescheduled for April 2021.

“Under the continuing health guidance of the County of Riverside, Coachella and Stagecoach 2020 will not take place this October as previously rescheduled,” the statement released on Thursday (June 11) read, per Variety.

“This is not the future that any of us hoped to confront, but our main focus remains the well-being of our fans, staff, artists, desert partners and everyone involved in the festival. A year without Coachella and Stagecoach is hard for us to comprehend, but we have every intention of returning in 2021.”

The update did not include a full lineup for next year’s event. It is unclear if the original lineup for Coachella 2020 will be the same for next year. In January, the organizers announced that Travis Scott, Frank Ocean and Rage Against the Machine would headline the festival and the lineup was carried over to October.

Despite the lack of update for the lineup, the announcement includes the date for the next festivals. The organizers also announced that it will honor the 2020 passes for the 2021 events.

“As of now, Coachella weekend one will take place April 9 – 11, 2021 and weekend two will be April 16 – 18, 2021. Stagecoach is set for April 23 – 25, 2021. We look forward to sharing our new lineups and more information,” the announcement continued.

“We can’t wait to be together in the desert again when it is safe. All 2020 passes will be honored in 2021. Current pass holders will be sent an email by the end of the day on Monday, June 15 with further instructions to request a refund or to roll over to next year.”

The official Coachella Twitter account shared a statement from Golden Voice on March 10 to notify the public that the event was moved to October due to the coronavirus pandemic. In its announcement, it urged everyone to “follow the guidelines and protocols put forth by public health officials.”
