Less than a year after moving into a luxurious $12.5 million home in Malibu, California, with girlfriend Dakota Johnson, Coldplay's frontman Chris Martin has sold the property for a profit and moved into a new mansion in the area.

Martin, 44, flipped his old home and bought a new one this month, E! News reported. "Chris bought and sold in Malibu in mid-December," the report said. "He got an off-market offer on his Nantucket-style home for almost $2 million more than he paid for it, and he took it."

Coldplay's vocalist profited from the sale and placed the cash in purchasing a new home "in a more private and desirable location for $14.4 million," a source told the outlet. "He loves the [Malibu] area and has been scooping up properties…He knows it's a great return on investment and he enjoys the process."

Martin and Johnson took their relationship to another level in March when they moved in together in their Malibu home – a 5,338-square-foot mansion just a stone's throw away from a private beach where he owns multiple properties.

Their first property was a modern cape cod-styled home with six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a game room, a theatre room, a pool with a spa and a full outdoor barbecue area, E! News reported.

Martin and the "Fifty Shades" actress first sparked dating rumors in November 2017 when she was photographed in the sound booth of a Coldplay concert in Argentina. The duo was later seen sharing an embrace in Herzliya, Israel, the same month.

The 32-year-old actress and the British singer were spotted on a date for the first time in January 2018 at Soho House in Malibu.

Johnson dated Matthew Hit from 2014 to 2016, while Martin was married to Gwyneth Paltrow before their split in 2014 after being together for 10 years. They finalized their divorce in 2016. Martin and Paltrow share two children – daughter Apple, 17, and son Moses, 15.

Martin's children were featured in Coldplay's latest album, "Music Of The Spheres," which was released in October. Apple co-wrote the band's collaboration track, titled "Let Somebody Go," with Selena Gomez, while Moses sang alongside his dad in "Humankind."
